ABOUT

The name Invisible Temple reflects Kalil Gaby’s ongoing quest for a deeper connection between the physical and the spiritual, between what is visible and what lies beyond the senses. In his work, he explores the idea of an ethereal space, a temple accessible only through reflection and personal experience — a place where art, technology, and culture meet to reveal hidden truths. This search for the invisible and for transcendence permeates his entire journey, from his homeland to the various places he has lived, always in a constant state of transformation.

Born in Belém do Pará, in the Amazon region of Brazil, Kalil grew up immersed in the rich Brazilian culture that would later become a cornerstone of his art. Throughout his journey, he moved to São Paulo, where he graduated in Architecture and Urbanism and worked as an architect in one of the largest firms in Brazil. However, even with success, something pulled him toward a more personal path, one more connected to his artistic essence. In search of this connection, he decided to change his life, moving to Portugal, where he lived for several years and had the opportunity to exhibit his work in Lisbon galleries, blending digital and cultural elements of Brazil with his roots.

Now residing in Leipzig, Germany, in a studio located in an old factory transformed into a creative hub for artists, Kalil continues to expand his artistic vision. His work, reflecting the intersection of art and technology, is deeply influenced by computer graphics — a passion he has nurtured since childhood. Pixels, computer chips, and circuits are integral to his visual language, serving as a metaphor for the vast universe of data and information we generate and consume in the digital age. At the same time, he constantly questions the impact of technology on human relationships and our perception of the world around us, with this reflection being central to many of his pieces.

In his series of exhibitions, Digital Symbiosis, Kalil delved into the fusion between the digital, the human and animals, bringing to light almost-forgotten cultures. Through Brazilian indigenous graphics, he proposed a new way of looking at the interaction between the original cultures of Brazil and contemporary art, creating a powerful dialogue that, in Lisbon, bridged the Portuguese colonial heritage with the voices of the indigenous people, often silenced.

In addition to being an architect and visual artist, Kalil is also an experimental musician, creating soundscapes that complement and expand his artistic explorations. In his studio, he blends sounds and images to offer a unique sensory experience that connects the senses and challenges the boundaries between technology, art, and the human condition.

Kalil Gaby’s art is a journey of self-awareness and transcendence, an invitation to explore the invisible and reflect on the impact of technology in our everyday lives. Through his works, he challenges us to look beyond the surface, question what lies behind it, and seek a deeper understanding of what it means to be human in today’s digital world.
